work Experience program 2026
explore your future in construction.
Have you ever wondered what it's like to design a building, manage a construction site, work as an engineer, plan a city, or help deliver major projects that shape our communities?
The TWIC Experience Construction Work Experience Program gives Year 10 students the opportunity to spend one week with industry professionals and gain first-hand experience across the construction and built environment industry.
Whether you're already interested in construction or simply curious about what opportunities exist, this program is designed to help you explore potential career pathways, build confidence and make informed decisions about your future.
When is it?
The program will run across two one-week placement periods
Week 1: 21st September – 25th September 2026
Week 2: 28th September – 2nd October 2026
Students can nominate their preferred week during the application process. Placement dates will ultimately depend on school requirements and host organisation availability.
What can i do?
One of the best things about the construction industry is the variety of career opportunities available.
Depending on your interests, your work experience placement could expose you to architecture, interior design, landscape design, engineering, project management, construction management, development, quantity surveying, sustainability, manufacturing, trades and many other professions that contribute to shaping our cities and communities.

The program is designed to help you explore different career pathways and better understand the opportunities available across the built environment industry. Before applying, we encourage you to complete the TWIC Career Quiz to discover whether you're a Shaper, Maker, Driver or Supporter, and learn more about the careers that may align with your strengths and interests.
